2 Months Postpartum: My Honest Update on Routines, Workouts & Wellness

As I write this, I’m officially two months postpartum with baby #2—and wow, it’s been a ride. There have been ups, downs, and everything in between. So I wanted to share where I’m at right now: routines I’m trying to maintain, my approach to postpartum fitness, supplements that are actually helping, and most importantly, how I’m being kinder to myself through it all.

Morning Routines (Let’s Be Real)
If you’ve read my morning routine blog post, you already know I love having that structured, mindful start to my day. But with a newborn in the mix? Let’s just say that ideal version isn’t happening every morning.
Funny enough, baby #2 is actually a great sleeper—getting up isn’t the hard part. The catch? Every time I wake up, he seems to sense it and wants to join me. He’s wide awake and ready to party at 5:30 AM, which makes it tough to squeeze in all the things I normally love doing before the rest of the house is up.
That said, I still try to fit in the routines that ground me (journaling, stretching, skincare—even if it’s just 3 minutes). But I’ve accepted that they may not happen in the most Pinterest-worthy fashion right now. And that’s okay. These early months are fluid, and that flexibility is part of the process.
Postpartum Fitness: Starting Slow & Listening to My Body
I started moving my body again around 3 weeks postpartum—but very gently. I wasn’t doing anything intense, just prioritizing movement in a way that felt supportive. Think stretching, pelvic floor exercises, light core activation, and some bodyweight arm movements. I’d get in about 20–30 minutes, 2–3 times a week, depending on how the day went.
By week 7, I felt ready to turn it up a bit. My body wasn’t giving me any signs of discomfort, so I slowly started incorporating weights and increasing the intensity of my workouts. I’m still tuning in to how I feel each day, but overall, I’ve been feeling strong, energized, and excited to build back my strength.
Supplements That Are Supporting Me While Breastfeeding
Breastfeeding and waking up twice a night definitely takes its toll, so supporting my body with the right nutrients has been huge for me.
Here’s what’s been in my current postpartum supplement routine:
B12 complex
Vitamin D3 + K2
Fish oils
Ashwagandha
Rhodiola
These help a lot with energy and mental clarity. If I miss more than two days in a row, I really feel the difference. I’ve also been taking Perfect Aminos, which I love—but I’ve had to reduce the dose because they don’t sit well with baby’s tummy while I’m breastfeeding. So, it’s all about balance and paying attention to what works for both of us.
Goals I’m Working On (Progress, Not Perfection)
Right now, I’m focusing on building consistency again—especially with my work routine, fitness, and wellness habits. I’ve even started tracking my daily habits again, which really helps keep me accountable without guilt-tripping myself.
One specific goal I’m excited about? I started a pull-up progression program. I haven’t been able to do one since giving birth, and I’m slowly working toward it with intention and patience.
Food-wise, I’ve had to make quite a few modifications. Baby #2 is way more sensitive to what I eat than my first, so I’ve been super mindful of keeping my diet clean and simple—for both our sakes. When I fuel myself well, our days run smoother. Period.
Being Kinder to Myself (and a Reminder for You, Too)
This post is a bit of a self-check. Friends and family keep reminding me to be kinder to myself—and honestly, I feel like I have been. I truly enjoy what I do: I love my work, I love working out, I love eating well. These are things that fill my cup and allow me to show up fully.
But that doesn’t mean it’s perfect every day.
Some days, I hit snooze. Some days, I don’t get much done. And that’s okay. What matters most to me right now is progress over perfection. I’m tracking my habits not to obsess over productivity, but to zoom out and see the bigger picture.
If the average of your days shows that you’re moving forward—whether that’s in motherhood, wellness, or anything else—you’re doing great.
So here’s your reminder (and mine): we’ll have good days and hard ones. Don’t let the tough ones throw you off. Keep showing up. Keep striving. You’re building something beautiful, even in the chaos.
